For our anniversary, my hubby surprised me with a date in Amsterdam. The very first city I ever visited of the Netherlands and which I love. I wouldn’t want to live here but I love to occasionally visit, sit at terrace, walk, shop, eat..etc.
First stop was Rijks Museum after checking in, in one of the oldest hotels in Amsterdam I am told American Hotel.
The Rijks Museum I have been wanting to visit it for so long but it has been closed for renewal for the past 3 years, so now that we had the occasion to do so we did specially that most Dutch people have seen it before; so you get the before and after opinion included within the tour 😉 at least I did and I found it to be amazing but do wear flat shoes or comfortable shoes as there is a lot to see and walk to.
Cardigan: Forever21 Link. Top: Mango Link. Trousers: Forever21 Link. Boots: Manfield (from last year). Bag: LV Alma (old) there are other colours now Link. Necklace: Massimo Dutti. (old). Bracelets: Parfois Link (see below for a close up).
Coat: Zara (last year). Outside the American Hotel by the main entrance.
Below is what I most enjoyed from the museum and was able to take a good photo of. I must say after 2 hours I was exhausted. Although we went on a Friday and a very cold windy day and not a national holiday either, but still the Museum was full and for some famous paintings you had to sort of wait to get a good glimpse and read the description about it.
After our tour, we went to the cafeteria that stays both with the shop open until 18pm and had a quick bite. which I don’t if we were super hungry or the sandwich covered in salad was really good. Either way we enjoyed it with a warm drink and some curious small Amandel mini cookies that we loved so we asked for a another warm drink just to get more of it and the waitress there was so generous that she brought us more than two…so sweet. Coming from the South, I don’t see so many gestures like this in the North it is more typical in our culture but it is very appreciated.
Then went back to hotel to freshen up and relax a bit. It was friday after all and after a whole week of working and waking up every morning at 6am, I was super tired. So rested then we headed to the nice bar below full of black and white photos of famous people and red seats and had a cocktail.
Then went for dinner in the same hotel, where they have the Late Night Show of RTL and while we were having dinner a couple of singers were rehearsing Jan Smit, Bo & the one I like Gers Pardoel, to be honest I only knew the last one mentioned, the song “Ik Neem Je mee”. I am still new in knowing all the famous people in Holland!.
Please see short videos below, I recorded while they were rehearsing 😉
